1 Wii Game Language Changing Tool on 12/17/2012, 12:53 pm

What is it:
This utility patches the main.dol to cheat the game's language detection mechanism. We can force a multi-language game to use specified language rather than the system's language with this utility. This could be useful when we play multi-language games on NTSC-U/NTSC-J consoles, which come without a language option in the system.

How to use it:
- Open ISO with Trucha Signer
- Extract Partition2/SYSFILES/main.dol
- Drag&drop the main.dol to wglp.exe
- Select a language (For example, if you patch an NTSC-U game, please select [1] en)
- Replace Partition2/SYSFILES/main.dol with the patched one and re-sign it
- Burn and play [IMG]

I tested it with Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicle (U). When I set the language code to 1(eng), everything is in English, including the home button interface. But when I try some European language codes, it still displays English except the health warning screens and home button interface. This is because it is an NTSC-U game. It re-overrides the language code on top of the common detection mechanism. Of course we can still hack it with additional asm code patches, but this utility won't do this for you [IMG]

Rayman Raving Rabbits (PAL) works perfectly for me, because this is a real multi-language game.

Super Monkey Ball should also be ok.

Cooking Mama (U) can run on NTSC-J Wii after being patched.

-----------------------
UPDATE (03/15/08):

While the patcher was initially intended to merely change the language a multi-lang game uses, a lot of people tried to use it to region-free NTSC-U games for NTSC-J Wii and found that there were still some games refused to work.

So here comes the V2 update. It enables more NTSC-U games to run on NTSC-J consoles and vice versa. Please note that this new hack has no effect for PALNTSC-U. It only works for NTSC-JNTSC-U, and maybe NTSC-JPAL with the help of VMC.

You still need to WBB a game if necessary since this patcher has nothing to do with the firmware update partition!

There's a code for Black Ops, I think it was made by Crashzer, but I am not 100% sure and it changes the Home Button menu language to German. If anyone would like to have the code just PM me and I'll be glad to give it to you. This program sounds pretty cool. I'm going to have to download it and test it out. Thanks for sharing this with me and everyone else, Seth.

Home menu language is cheap, it´s on the disk for every game like 5 different languages (even if the game is just single language). Just swap the file (using a code!) and that´s it. You can force any language in a USB Loader or Gecko OS, so yeah no use for me then. Wink

Sometimes it doesn't work...
I tried to change Epic Mickey NTSC (SEME4Q) English-to-French language, and... fail.
But on Dolphin Emulator, when I simulate a french Wii, the game runs in french. (Because it's also selled in Canada)
Any idea Question
(Sorry for my english, I'm french.) baguette

If the language is not on the disk, you can´t get it. The game you mentioned only is in French, German, English and Spanish (?).

I use Gecko OS etc. to force whatever language. Works best. You should do so by changing the menu language with dolphin, Idk.

in this website :
http://www.gametdb.com/Wii/SEME4Q
they say there is FR in the game and, they are right. I can play in full french on Dolphin.

Do you know the code for FR forcing on Gecko please for I can try that ?
(if you talk about "changing language option" in gecko, like on usb loader and CFG usb loader, it doesn't work too... I've tried all this options.)

that's strange...
I'm testing in the same time I write this message.

The first screen of the wii (when it's saying to put the strap on your wrist) is french then, the first video (when you see Mickey sleeping) is in english, even when I try other language of this game, it's talking in english)

is this video is in french for you ?

The video shows that a french version is played. I think that PAL has French.

I know you're right !
PAL version has FRENCH.

You don't understand what I try to do :

I have the NTSC version of Epic Mickey.
I also bought the PAL version when it was on sale.

But, because the "infinite jump" on PAL version doesn't work, I want to change language of the NTSC version to FR. I KNOW the NTSC have FR language, because in DOLPHIN, the DVD loads a FULL FR Version.

I just can't have the same result on my Wii. So I tried the "Language Changing Tool" after trying the options on loaders, and nothing works. So I ask help.
When I change language on loaders, only the Wii GUI change language, (home menu, Wiimote caution) but not the game.

Was-I clear or not ? It's possible (because I'm french) that my explanations are confused...
I try to do my best.

Thanks for your help & patience.
Cordially.

Hello Bully,
I'm BACK ! (Like said schwarzenegger) LOL
I progress in my research !!!

I understand why I haven't got SEME4Q in French : First, I've remake a dump of my DVD. It's a good start. Then, when you force the "PAL 50" or "PAL 60", the game speaks english, but, when you let the "Disk by default" option for the graphic option, it talks in french !!! but... video rests in black & white... Mad
I was sure that french language was somewhere in this DVD !

I'm not so crazy ... ulol

Have you got a tip for I can play in color for I can let the "disc by default" option but forcing PAL please ?

Thanks again for all your help.
